The Covenant Series (Daimon, Half Blood, Pure, Deity, Elixir, Apollyon), Jennifer L. Armentrout
“Could you kill the one you love?
The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi - Pure-bloods - have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals - well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels and kill Daimons or become servants in the home of the pures.
Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rulers that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:
Relationships between Pures and Halfs are FORBIDDEN.
Unfortunately, she’s crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn’t her biggest problem - staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she falls in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a Daimon. And being hunted by Aiden.
And that would kind of suck.”
Rather than talk about all six books in mass detail because I love them ALL SO MUCH, I thought it would be easier to talk about the entire series overall.
Briefly…
THIS WAS ONE OF THE BEST SERIES I HAVE EVER READ.
Despite being a fantasy series, with unrealistic powers and destinies, what I really enjoyed about this series were the characters. Yes, Alex had to survive being the Apollyon but overall the entire set of characters had to deal with a whole lot of other stuff too and it was very enjoyable to read them overcome their problems. I loved how witty and humorous the characters were in all of the books and I was in complete awe that Jennifer could create an entirely new world inside the one we live in and how she could create it with so much depth and that mortals were affected as badly as the characters were from the problems.
I’m not ashamed to say that I cried probably three times in each book, especially when Alex herself died temporarily (BOTH TIMES).
I loved how much in depth Seth was and how much he developed over the series, eventually becoming such an important person in Alex’s life and overcoming his own faults to help save the world.
Overall it was brilliantly written and something I would definitely recommend to read!! 5/5

Looking For Alaska, John Green
“‘In the dark beside me, she smelled of sweat and sunshine and vanilla, and on that thin-mooned night I could see little more than her silhouette, but even in the dark, I could see her eyes - fierce emeralds. And not just beautiful, but hot too.’
Alaska Young. Gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, screwed up - and utterly fascinating. Miles Halter could not be more in love with her. But when tragedy strikes, Miles discovers the value and the pain of living and loving unconditionally.
Nothing will ever be the same.”
This book which although was published nine years ago, continues to be a massive success, teenagers and adults reading it and publicly praising John Green for such a great novel. It centers on Miles, a young boy starting at a boarding school where he meets the beautiful and mysterious Alaska Young, who captivates him along with most of the other boys at school. Unsurprisingly, there’s also a great deal of tragedy and feels in Looking For Alaska. This was the first John Green book I ever read and it was a great introduction into his genre. Although I did get slightly bored at the start, the moment I was introduced to Alaska, I was captivated by the plot. I also finally understood the title of the book and found it so ridiculously smart (YOU GO JOHN GREEN). I adored the characters from Alaska who is just the most fucking badass girl you will ever know to the nerdy young man of The Colonel, you just slightly connect to them all and love what a peculiar group they are and suddenly crave for your parents to send you off to boarding school so you can just have a group of friends like that. The ending tragedy really killed me and I admit I shed a few tears at Miles and The Colonel’s heartbreak.
Overall, a great novel and very very willing to read again. 5/5
